At an express wash, customers drive up to an automated payment station and select their desired wash package and add-on items. The customer remains in their vehicle as they are guided on to the conveyor system by an attendant and is instructed to place the vehicle into a neutral gear. The customer rides through the tunnel then puts the car back into drive and to exit. With an express wash, operators often offer a self-service vacuum system to the customer.
